What's a Player Profile?

When joining an online chess tournament we are given a chess player profile. We should do our best to make our profile presentable, updated, and improving. After all this is our "face" online. Other players come to know us by our online profile. Here is a summary of what it is all about.

First, we have to be very careful about our "player info." This is where we project ourselves to other players on the site and guests who drop by to visit and peek. We should update or edit anything that needs changing.

If we feel we need to add or suggest some features for the site we opt for the "preferences" or other similar feature on the profile page. Player info is not only where we receive updates of our game from the site, it is also where we show people how our plays are rated in the site.

We may email the site regarding chess board setup or orientation, design or color theme, suggested or preferred categories of tournaments, and others. We may also call the attention of the site administrator on any changes or additions to our "personal data." For instance, we may request to add our picture, our chess proverbs, bio-data, or email address if we want to. In case we change our email it is best to advice the site manager about it.

We may refer to an option on "membership" or "status" for information on payment, dues, upgrading status, or just plain membership status. Chess player profile is often much concerned on the level of our membership and goads us now and then to "upgrade" or go up one level to avail of more challenging tournaments or better site features.

At the same time, it updates us on the game limitations we have while staying in our current membership status. Sometimes, the number of tournaments we can join in and how often depends on our status.

The player profile also has a provision for closing account. If we choose to end our account with the site we simply click on this option. After confirming, our connection with the site automatically cancels and all services given by the site will be stopped. We also have to check our subscription with the money transfer agency involved, if any.

Our chess player profile is where we project ourselves online. Often, how many players would want to play with us depends largely on how well projected we are to them. We must promote ourselves well online.
